  • Calcium is an important second messenger both in plants and animals. Stimulus specific calcium signals evoke specific response reactions in plant cells. I am interested in deciphering the calcium signals generated during biotic and abiotic stress conditions in the model plant Arabidopsis and crop plant rice. Presently we are analyzing Sphingolipid mediated calcium signaling in plants. Additionally, we are standardizing the Ca2+ imaging method in mammalian cell lines.
